Mary's Litany

Eve was the cause of death for men, because through her, death came into the world.  But Mary was the cause of life, for through her, life was born unto us. (1)  St. Epiphanius

But perhaps, now that you are raised to the high dignity of Queen of Heaven, you will forget us poor creatures? Ah, far be such a thought from our minds, for it would little become the great compassion that reigns in the heart of Mary ever to forget such misery as ours. (2)  St. Peter Damian

Because Mary is so exalted, is it possible perhaps for her to forget us?  But it does not suit one so great in mercy to forget us who must undergo so many trials. (3)  St. Peter Damian

The Lord selected his mother from the posterity of Abraham and assumed flesh from her.  Thus He was in truth made man, in all like us, except sin. (4)  St. Isidore of Pelusium

The bush seen by Moses, which burned without being consumed, was a real symbol of Mary's heart.

(5)  St. Thomas of Villanova
